The award
The Mannheim Arts and Film Festival 2026 awarded “Schimmer” in the Best Short Film category. The festival laurel displays the category and the year 2026.
The award places the Try Us Film short among the festival’s recognised productions. For our team, it is an opportunity to acknowledge everyone’s contribution, from developing the story to completing the film.
The film behind the laurel
“Schimmer” follows a mother surviving in a bunker with her two daughters after a devastating viral catastrophe. When her long-lost brother returns, she faces a decision that changes her family’s life.
Jakob Gisik wrote and directed the film. Matthias Kampmann is the producer, with production by Try Us Film.

The approximately 20-minute film has been freely available on YouTube since September 30, 2026. Visit the project page for the film, further images and production information.
